Andersen Windows’ EcoExcel™ Package Makes Tax Credit Easy
Package Makes Qualifying for $1,500 Easy, Without Expensive Upgrades
BAYPORT, Minn. (May 22, 2009) — Andersen Windows, Inc., today announced a program to make it easy for customers to identify products that meet the new stringent tax credit performance criteria. Andersen’s new EcoExcel™ energy performance package makes it easy to identify products that are eligible for the new tax credit.* The new EcoExcel™ package is intended to remove all doubt from the minds of builders, remodelers and homeowners about which Andersen® windows and doors qualify for the government’s $1,500 tax bill credit, good for qualifying products purchased and installed throughout 2009 and 2010. Andersen also eases the process of claiming the tax credit by providing the documentation necessary to receive it.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 allows for federal tax credits of up to $1,500 for qualifying windows, doors and skylights when used for remodeling or replacement in a taxpayer’s primary U.S. residence.**
“The legislation offers a great opportunity to improve your energy savings, yet there has been a great amount of confusion -- for homeowners and building and remodeling professionals -- on what will qualify for the government’s tax credit,” said J Glasnapp, vice president of Corporate Sustainability and Quality at Andersen Corporation. “As the leader in the window and door industry, we intend to eliminate the confusion. Customers buying any product from the EcoExcel energy performance package have our assurance that they will meet the tax credit performance criteria.”*
EcoExcel™ branded windows and doors include Andersen products that come in a wide variety of styles and shapes (both custom and standard) from Andersen’s 400 Series and 100 Series product lines – and do not require expensive upgrades or add-ons to qualify for the tax credit. Customers will see the EcoExcel brand identification on qualifying products with SmartSun™ glass, which is available on most window and door styles the company manufactures.
“We have wide range of windows and doors that qualify for the credit without the expensive upgrades other manufacturers may need to perform to meet the government guidelines,” said Jay Lund, Andersen Window and Door Group President. “And, customers have our assurance that these windows and doors meet the stringent qualifying performance criteria for the tax credit.”*
EcoExcel branded windows and doors can provide the homeowner with up to 70 percent higher energy efficiency in summer and 45 percent higher energy efficiency in winter.*** To qualify for the tax credit, homeowners need to follow just a few easy steps.
• Purchase EcoExcel branded windows and doors
• Install EcoExcel branded windows and doors in their primary U.S. residence in 2009 or 2010
• Save the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement from Andersen
• Claim the credit on 2009 and/or 2010 federal tax filings**
