Sleep in Heavenly Peace Donations

Did you know over 200 homeless children live in the Cape Henlopen School District?

Did you also know many of these children lack the essential supplies to live a healthy life? Things that most of us take for granted, such as food, a bed, even a pillow or pillowcase to lay our head on at night.

Try and imagine this scenario, every night you go to sleep you lay down on the cold floor or maybe an old couch or in a bed with multiple siblings, with no pillow to rest your head or blanket to keep you warm. That is the reality many of the homeless children in our school district live each and every day.

Did you know you can help change this?

Sleep in Heavenly PeaceThis year, the Cape Henlopen School district and local partners are supporting an initiative entitled “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”  to collect pillows, pillow cases and blankets for our homeless youth.

This initiative began last year when our generous community donated over 60 pillows, pillow cases and blankets for our students. The impact of those pillows/blankets made a tremendous positive difference in the lives of many students. It has been proven a good night sleep is essential to a productive and healthy mind.

You can be the avenue that helps give these young promising children the ability to a good night sleep all year round. Something as simple as a pillow, pillowcase and blanket could make the difference between a student passing and failing an exam, a class, the school year.

Imagine the confidence that might blossom in a young mind from passing an exam. Imagine how receiving a pillow/blanket can affect them emotionally. A simple gift can change the lives of hundreds of students and our community.

Our goal this year is to provide a pillow set for all 200 homeless students.

If you would like to contribute to this year’s pillow/case/blanket drive for Cape Henlopen Students, you can bring your donations to the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth, or Atlantic Millwork & Cabinetry in Lewes; across from Nassau Valley Vineyards. The last day to bring your gifts is December 16, 2017, at 2:30 p.m.
